Far North Wilderness Bike Tour
If you want to take a cycling adventure through Cairns, take the Far North Wilderness Bike Tour from September 28 to October 5, 2013.
Enjoy 8 unforgettable days of cycling in the Wet Tropics area between Innisfail, Ravenshoe and Cairns. Cycle through over 500 kilometers on mostly remote dirt roads with minimal traffic. See spectacular scenery such as waterfalls and gorges, rainforest and open forests. The tour includes fresh home-cooked meals and snacks. Aside from the sheer fun of cycling, you get to help a good cause. This charity event supports the work of the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre.
The route this year consists of some of the best campsites and routes including a wonderful wilderness campsite at Dinden National Park. You will be spending 2 nights at the beautiful bush heritage listed Yourka Station. You may also ride to the spectacular Herbert River Gorge and swim in any of the refreshing pools above the falls. There will be about 4 and a half days riding through World Heritage rainforest and a couple of days riding in open Scherophyll Forest.
The tour departs Cairns on Saturday morning, September 28, and arrives in Cairns on Saturday afternoon October 5, 2013.
