Explore the Cairns Botanic Gardens

During your getaway, take a break from the beach and escape into the lush greenery of Cairns Botanic Gardens for a peaceful picnic.
Located within easy reach of our Cairns holiday apartments, the 38 hectare gardens are a tropical oasis only 3km from the heart of the city, and home to one of the biggest collections of rainforest plants in Australia. Enjoy the rainforest boardwalk stroll through lowland swamp forest lush with towering paper bark trees and Alexander palms, or head to the Centenary Lakes section to see the tropical birds, waterlilies, mudskippers, crabs and mangrove birds that make this diverse habitat their home. Some of the rarest and most endangered plants in the world can be seen in the Flecker Gardens, including the carnivorous Nepenthes plant, which ‘eats’ bugs!
After a busy few hours exploring, you can drop by the Botanic Gardens Restaurant and Cafe for a coffee or a bite to eat. The award winning cafe is located in the heart of the gardens and is famous for its delicious waffles. Don’t forget to check it out during your Cairns break!
