Reef Tour Reef Magic $190 per person

I would highly recommend Reef Magic for a great Reef Trip and at only $190 per person this is fantastic value for what you get. I have done this trip many times and in my time in Tourism over the past 10 years I have been on almost all the boats that go to the Reef from Cairns and I can say hands down that this is the best Reef Trip. The staff are very friendly, the snorkelling is fantastic, the reef is amazing and you also get included in the price morning tea, buffet lunch, afternoon tea, all snorkelling gear, glass bottom boat tours, semisubmersible tours and it is on a large pontoon so you have plenty of room and you aren’t stuck on the boat all day which is a great bonus.

Cape Tribulation and Daintree with Billy Tea Bush Safaris $185 per person

I would recommend doing a day trip to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree with Billy Tea Bush Safaris over doing Skyrail. They are both a rainforest experience but you will get so much more out of going to Cape Tribulation and you will see so much more and actually get to walk through the rainforest and see it up close, you cannot do this on the Skyrail or the Train. The price for this is $185 per person and is a jam packed full day in which you will see so much. I have also done this tour and cannot recommend it enough!

Billy Tea Bush Safaris 1 Day Cape Tribulation Tour

Billy Tea Safaris is a small locally owned tour operator, which operates small personalised tours with custom built 4WD vehicles, and your naturalist guides have extensive knowledge of flora, fauna, history of the area and aboriginal culture, which will ensure you day will be a memory of a life time.

Your day begins with being meet by your accredited guide at your accommodation Cairns CBD area from 6.50am – 7.15am, Northern Beaches from 7.20am and Port Douglas area from 8.20am, and after introductions, we drive north along the scenic coastal route along the Captain Cook Highway learning about the history of the area and admiring spectacular views of the coast line and Coral Sea. Our first stop is at the Majestic Daintree River for Morning Tea before enjoying an informative guided River Cruise on the Daintree River. Relax and enjoy the splendour only the Daintree can offer as you learn of Estuarine Crocodiles, mangrove forests and endemic wildlife, this is nature at its best!

From here we ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage, Wet Tropics, and Tropical Rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on one of our guided elevated National Park Boardwalks. Accurate interpretations of flora and fauna will be given with ample time for photographs and questions as we search for the elusive, rare and totally unique Southern Cassowary and other wildlife species within this particular habitat.

We now make our way to Lync Haven which is an animal refuge centre where you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo get up close to some of Australia’s wildlife, see “Boris” the crocodile, and enjoy delicious gourmet barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads in a beautiful rainforest setting restaurant, (we also cater for vegetarians and other dietary requirements upon notification) enjoy a cold drink from the bar. Our tour does a little more.

It takes us beyond the famous Daintree Tea Plantation, past spectacular mountains and through spectacular World Heritage Rainforest as we pass Cape Tribulation and continue along the 4WD Bloomfield Track through to pristine Emmagen Creek. Billy Tea Safaris is the only tour operator that goes to this secret Jewel in the Rainforest, and now it is time for a refreshing rainforest stream swim, in crystal clear freshwaters and without the crowds of people.

Seek fish and turtles in the creek, butterflies and exotic birds in the trees and indulge in a feast of exotic tropical fruits, a complimentary glass of wine and sample a cup of traditional Billy Tea, all of which enhance the tranquil surroundings.

We then make our way to Cape Tribulation Beach after most of the crowds are gone, there is a little time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach and boardwalk to the photographers' platform overlooking the mountains and coast where the 'Rainforest meets the Reef'

Time permitting we stop at Daintree’s hidden secret, the Daintree Ice Cream Factory. Your taste buds will be tantalized with exotic tropical fruit home made ice cream. Sample unique flavours, such as Black Sapote, Soursop, Wattle Seed, Jackfruit, and Coconut just to name a few. All the fruits used to make the ice cream have been locally grown on the property and for $5.00 you can taste up to four different flavours.
