Fitzroy Island National Park

Take a break from Cairns beautiful golden beaches and escape for a day of exploration at the stunning Fitzroy Island National Park.

With its lush rainforest, idyllic coral beaches and rugged granite outcrops, the island is a fantastic place to bushwalk, snorkel, bird watch, swim or simply kick back and unwind, only a short ferry ride from our Cairns holiday apartments.

Fitzroy was named by Captain Cook in the 18th Century and formed an important part of an Aboriginal fruit and vegetable growing mission hundreds of years later.

The fringing reef just off the coast of the island is home to a rich variety of marine life, making it one of the best places to snorkel in Cairns. It’s also a great place to observe native birds and animals in the wild, including a diverse range of reptiles.

Pack a picnic and some binoculars and explore for yourself during your Cairns break!
